Larson O’Brien is pleased to announce the expansion of its Los Angeles office with the addition of Hilary Potashner.
Hilary joined the firm after stepping down from her post as the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California. Her addition to the firm’s team of prominent litigators strengthens the firm’s robust criminal defense, commercial litigation, and appellate practices.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has twice recognized Hilary’s excellence as a trial lawyer and a leader in our profession by appointing her Federal Public Defender.
“Her skill and experience as a defense lawyer are second to none, and we are honored to welcome her to Larson O’Brien. Hilary will be an incredible resource to our clients.”
— Stephen G. Larson
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has twice appointed Hilary to serve as the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California. Hilary was first appointed to the post on June 30, 2015. She previously served as the Acting Federal Public Defender from September 2014 to June 2015, Chief Deputy from 2012 to 2014, and as a supervising attorney and trial attorney. She also spent six years as a deputy public defender for the County of San Diego.
In addition to her leadership roles, Hilary has represented clients in hundreds of criminal matters, including capital crimes and drug offenses, RICO and financial crimes, and fraud charges. Her most notable cases include defending Paul Ciancia, who faced the death penalty for shooting and killing a TSA agent at LAX, and former baseball star Lenny Dykstra on charges of bankruptcy fraud.
