Larson LLP is proud to announce that its founding partner, Stephen G. Larson, is included in the Daily Journal’s annual list of the Top 100 Attorneys in California for the tenth consecutive year.
A former U.S. District Judge, Stephen has spent more than 35 years handling complex business disputes, white-collar cases, and high-profile civil litigation. The Daily Journal profile highlights two recent matters. In one, Stephen and the Larson team secured a complete defense verdict for real estate investor Southland Equities, defeating $190 million in fraud claims and obtaining a $30 million jury award on the client’s counterclaims.
The profile also highlights the firm’s representation of homeowners who lost property in the January 2025 wildfires in an antitrust action against California insurers. Earlier this year, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge upheld the homeowners’ claims and allowed the case to proceed, and the U.S. Department of Justice filed a statement of interest supporting their position.
Stephen said both matters presented the same core challenge: distilling complicated facts and legal issues into something accessible for a judge and jury. “I’ve always believed that the most important skill of the lawyer is mastering the art and science of simplifying without being simplistic,” he said, “just like the most important skill of the jurist is mastering the art and science of judging without being judgmental.”
