The Los Angeles Times reported on a California judge’s decision to allow two lawsuits against State Farm and other insurance companies to proceed. The lawsuits, brought by Larson LLP and Shernoff Bidart Echeverria on behalf of homeowners impacted by California’s 2025 wildfires, allege a coordinated boycott among insurance companies to force homeowners in high-risk areas onto the Cal FAIR plan.
Larson partner Robert F. Ruyak was quoted, saying, “This is very good news for our people, our plaintiffs, because we’re going to be able to go ahead now with our antitrust claims in both cases.”
The Los Angeles Daily Journal also covered the decision and included a statement from partner Stephen G. Larson, who said, “We now look forward to fully exposing the staggering damage caused to former long-standing policy holders forced onto grossly inadequate Cal FAIR policies by the insurers’ alleged collusion and group boycott.”
