She most recently served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California, where she focused on violent crime and child exploitation cases, and regularly led multi-defendant prosecutions and jury trials. In addition to her trial work, Catharine briefed numerous appeals and twice argued successfully before the Ninth Circuit.
During her tenure in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Catharine held several leadership roles, including Deputy Chief of the Violent and Organized Crime Section, Anti-Gang Coordinator, and Project Safe Childhood Coordinator. She worked closely with federal, state, and local partners and helped develop an innovative cross-agency program designed to educate parents, teachers, and students about online child safety. Her work has been recognized with the Homeland Security Investigations Prosecutor of the Year Award.
Earlier in her career, Catharine clerked for Administrative Presiding Justice Elwood G. Lui on the California Court of Appeal, gaining significant appellate experience, and practiced at a multinational law firm. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and Brigham Young University and remains active in professional and civic organizations in the Los Angeles community.
Outside of the office, Catharine enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking and baking, teaching Sunday School, and spending time with her nephews.
