The American Lawyer and The National Law Journal recently included partner Stephen G. Larson in their respective annual publications honoring “Trailblazers” who are agents of change in the legal industry.

Stephen is named a “West Trailblazer” by The American Lawyer, which honors top lawyers by region, and an “Elite Boutique Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal, which honors top lawyers by specialization.

In both profiles, Stephen explained the genesis of the idea that made him a trailblazer. Citing his diverse career that includes one decade in the U.S. Attorney’s Office and another as a federal judge, Stephen noted, “These experiences impressed on me the importance of breadth, versatility, and effective storytelling regardless of the matter or forum, and subsequently informed the development of Larson LLP: We created a firm that handles all aspects of civil, criminal, and regulatory cases; trials and appeals; defending and conducting investigations; and more.”

“We’re traditional in our love for trying and winning high-stakes cases, but set apart in that we try any case in any courtroom, successfully, and we effectively address and resolve our client’s litigation issues comprehensively.”

— Stephen Larson

The American Lawyer highlighted Stephen’s recent matter leading the investigation into Riverside County’s foster care and dependent adult care programs, and developing reform recommendations for the County. Demonstrating the firm’s breadth of practice, The National Law Journal profiled Stephen’s high-profile representation of a real estate developer that began with a state indictment brought by the District Attorney, expanded into a civil taxpayer lawsuit and criminal trial, and ended with a $65 million civil rights settlement in favor of the firm’s client—as well as a new District Attorney reforming the office. Stephen noted both of these matters as examples of when the firm’s “holistic approach to litigation and investigations shed light on systemic issues . . . [and] produced significant policy and procedural changes.”

Larson congratulates Stephen and his fellow “Trailblazers” for truly moving the needle in the legal industry.
