Larson Obtains Unanimous Jury Trial Verdict for Alfa Consult SA

On Jan. 17, the Larson team achieved another sweeping trial victory in the federal civil case entitled Alfa Consult SA v. TCI International, Inc.

At issue in the dispute between Alfa Consult SA, a Luxembourg-based telecommunications company, and TCI International, an American company based in Fremont, Calif. that manufactures Spectrum Monitoring System (SMS) products, was a contract for the construction of SMS capabilities in Iraq. The evidence presented at trial included allegations that TCI International breached its exclusive agency agreement with Alfa Consult SA in order to partner with the Al Zaman Group based in Amman, Jordan.

Over the course of five days, the Larson team presented arguments and evidence supporting Alfa Consult SA’s claims for breach of contract and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. On Jan. 17, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of Alfa Consult SA on both counts and awarded it $5 million in damages. U.S. District Judge Beth Freeman presided over the trial.

The Larson team representing Alfa Consult SA includes partners Stephen G. Larson, Catherine S. OwensSteven E. Bledsoe, and Paul A. Rigali, associates Andrew S. Bledsoe and Jasmine M. Johnson, and staff members Bobby Rimas and Haewon Park.
