Anitha Vemury is a trusted legal advisor specializing in discovery strategy, comprehensive legal research, and overseeing electronic case management systems to optimize litigation results.
She brings more than a decade of litigation and counseling experience, with a practice spanning government investigations, discrimination and harassment claims, labor relations, workplace policy development, and complex administrative proceedings.
Before entering private practice, Anitha served as Associate General Counsel for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), where she both litigated high-stakes labor and employment disputes and provided strategic compliance advice to senior leaders shaping internal policies.
Prior, Anitha advocated on behalf of federal employees at the American Federation of Government Employees. As an attorney in the Women’s and Fair Practices Department, she litigated in multiple forums and provided policy guidance and legal training to local union chapters, individual members, and national leadership. She previously clerked for the Honorable Jeannette Clark of the D.C. Superior Court.
Anitha is actively involved in professional and alumni communities. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Cornell ILR Alumni Association, is a Fellow of the ABA Commission on Disability Rights, and participates in the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law. She is dedicated to exploring the intersection of law, technology, and the future of work.
She holds a J.D. from Howard University School of Law, where she interned with Judge Paul Friedman and Judge Robert Wilkins of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, as well as Chief Judge Anita Josey-Herring of the D.C. Superior Court. She earned her B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. Anitha is SHRM-SCP certified and a certified mediator.
