Larson LLP’s client, the Orange County Water District (OCWD), is working on major groundwater cleanup projects, an article in TimesOC (of the Los Angeles Times) reported on April 1.
The groundwater under multiple cities across Orange County has been polluted by decades of manufacturing.
Attorneys Scott A. Sommer, Stephen G. Larson, and Paul A. Rigali are representing the OCWD on environmental regulatory issues for the cleanup of Orange County’s North Basin and South Basin. They worked with the OCWD to add the North Basin to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Superfund National Priorities List, which was achieved in September 2020. These efforts make the site eligible for cleanup money and other federal aid, among other things.
70 percent of the water served in Orange County is from groundwater, making the basins critical water resources for millions of residents and the cleanup efforts crucial in protecting essential drinking water.
