September 16, 2020 — The Daily Journal has once again recognized partner Stephen G. Larson as one of the “Top 100 Lawyers in California.” The annual special edition celebrates California attorneys doing cutting-edge legal work and who have had the most impact in the legal industry in the past year.

In his fourth consecutive year as one of the “Top 100 Lawyers in California,” Stephen describes his wide range of cases and how Larson O’Brien as a firm rejects a narrow litigation focus.

“The philosophy of my firm is that if you can tell a story as a good advocate you don’t have to specialize,” Stephen states in his profile. “We have a broad base of clients and scope of litigation.”

Stephen's "Top 100" profile outlines his diverse practice from the past year, including representing the former University of California water polo coach, Jovan Vavic, in the highly publicized “Varsity Blues” case; preparing for trial for his first-ever general court-martial representing an Air Force physician; settling a $154 million securities fraud claim on behalf of investors against Snap Inc.; and proceeding with the federal civil rights lawsuit on behalf of Colonies Partners and Jeff Burum against the former San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos and others on allegations of malicious prosecution and retaliation.

Having represented Mr. Burum for years in the bribery and public corruption case ending in acquittal, Stephen notes, “It was a very long ordeal for Mr. Burum, very expensive in terms of time away from his business, attorney fees, and a serious emotional toll. It’s a compelling case, and there is nothing more damaging than what we found to have been the politicization of the prosecutor’s office.”

Larson O’Brien congratulates Stephen and all of this year’s honorees on being recognized as the very best California attorneys.
