Partner Hilary Potashner is attending and presenting at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit’s 2022 Jury Summit on April 21 in Phoenix.
The Jury Summit brings together judges, civil and criminal attorneys, jury clerks, and court administrators from all districts to learn about the latest innovations in and facilitate conversations around enhancing jury management. As a member of the Jury Trial Improvement Committee, Hilary is speaking on a panel about “Dealing With Sensitive Issues in Jury Selection.” Her esteemed panelists are the Honorable Jeremy D. Fogel, now the executive director of the Berekely Judicial Institute, and the Honorable William H. Orrick, III, of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Other topics throughout the Jury Summit will include “Jury Questionnaires in the Digital Age,” “What Juries Like and Dislike,” and “Hot Developments in Jury Trials, Trial Procedures, and Evidence Laws,” and will even delve into the “Psychology of Learning, Attention Span, and Concentration.”
The Jury Trial Improvement Committee was established by the Judicial Council of the Ninth Circuit to develop and implement innovative approaches that both improve the juror experience for citizens and contribute to better court management of the jury system.
