August 6, 2021 — Larson LLP is pleased to announce that acclaimed commercial litigator and trial lawyer Rick Richmond has joined the firm as a partner.

Rick represents clients in a broad range of complex commercial litigation, trade secrets and other high-stakes intellectual property, and compliance matters. Throughout his career spanning more than three decades, Rick has litigated scores of complicated and cutting-edge disputes in federal and state courts, federal and local administrative proceedings, and private arbitrations. His record in the courtroom, which includes trying over 30 cases to verdict, has garnered recognition by The Legal 500, The American Lawyer, The National Law Journal, and California’s Daily Journal, and has earned Rick his national reputation as a top litigator.

Among his high-profile accomplishments at trial, Rick won a complete defense verdict in a $250 million breach of partnership case, successfully defended an air cargo transporter against a plaintiff’s $200 million fraud and breach of contract claims, and won a $940 million verdict in Epic Systems Corp. v. Tata Consultancy Services—what is believed to be the largest verdict in Wisconsin history and one of the largest trade secret verdicts in U.S. history.

Rick previously practiced at two Am Law 100 firms, for one of which he served as the founding and managing partner of the Los Angeles office for nearly a decade. In addition to his client work, Rick is an active member of several local legal organizations, including serving on the board of directors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. He also devotes time to pro bono work and has represented clients ranging from non-profit organizations to defendants on trial for murder.

"Rick is a pillar of the Los Angeles legal community. His reputation as one of the nation’s top litigators reflects his extensive trial experience and many successes. We are thrilled for him to bring that experience to our complex commercial and business litigation and intellectual property litigation practices." — Stephen G. Larson

"I am honored to join Larson LLP’s exceptional team of trial lawyers. I look forward to continuing my commercial and intellectual property litigation practices in this dynamic and growing firm, and to working with such a talented group of attorneys to achieve the optimal results for our clients." — Rick Richmond

Rick earned his J.D. from George Washington University with honors, where he completed an administrative internship with the Honorable Warren E. Burger of the U.S. Supreme Court, and his B.S. from Brigham Young University, cum laude. Following law school, he was a judicial clerk with the Honorable Harlington Wood Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and worked as an appellate lawyer in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division.
