Director of Technology


The Director of Technology will be responsible for the firm’s technology, network, hardware, and software.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Supervising and serving as liaison with the firm’s outside managed IT services provider.
  • Troubleshoot issues relating to all firm software applications and hardware, including desktop computers, laptops, phones, printers, audio-visual systems, and mobile devices.
  • Providing regular training and guidance to ensure the support team is best prepared to respond to firm-related technology inquiries; presenting updates on new and changing applications, services, processes, etc.
  • Implementing and administering technology directives and policies.
  • Periodically responding to urgent escalated requests or after-hours requests and providing technical support to attorneys when escalation is required.
  • Completing special projects on various issues as needed.
  • Promoting effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for co-workers.

Required Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

As the Director of Technology you will be expected to apply strong leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving and decision-making) necessary for effective mentoring. Strong troubleshooting knowledge and proficiency in various remote access methodologies, VOIP, TCP/IP, client/server relationships, Active Directory, SCCM, video conferencing, and mobile devices are required. Expert knowledge and proficiency in a wide variety of software programs, including Windows 10, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and iManage are also a must. The successful Director of Technology must have well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm. Organizational skills are needed to manage time well, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple deadlines are desired, as well as the ability to use independent judgment and discretion when making the majority of decisions. The Director of Technology must also have good presentation skills and the ability to deliver presentations to an audience for instructional purposes.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems is desired. A minimum of eight (8) years of technology support experience with PC hardware/software, networking, and a strong troubleshooting background are required. Experience delivering white-glove customer service is a must. Legal industry experience is preferred.
